Abo Al-Fadl Al-Abbas: Imam Husain’s half brother. His mother is Om Al-Baneen

Afrah: Happy, Happiness

Ahl Al-Bayt: People of the House, or family. In the Islamic tradition it refers to the household of Prophet Mohammad

Allah: Muslims’ God. They believe in one God that has no sons or partners.

Al-Fateha: A praragraph from the holy Koran

Bin: Son of. Ex: Ali bin Abi Taleb, which means Ali son of Abi Taleb

Imam: Leader

Imam Ali bin Abi Taleb: Prophet Mohammad’s cousin and Lady Zahra’s husband. He was chosen by Allah to take Prophet Mohammad’s role when the Prophet passes away, and the Prophet Mohammad announced that several times in different events.

Imam Saheb Al-Zaman: the 12th and last Shiites’ Imam. He is still alive, and he will appear some day to spread justice and truth on Earth.

Inshallah: If Allah is willing

Karbala: The land where Imam Husain fought Yazeed’s army. It is located in Iraq, and it is the holiest land for Shiites.

Lady Zahra: Prophet Mohammad’s daughter Muslims believe she is the greatest woman in history.

Lady Zainab: Imam Husain’s sister

Latom: A genre in religious songs. Sad songs are classified under this genre, and they are combined by sound of people hit their chests to show their sadness and grief for Imam Husain and what was occurred to him.

Moharram: Name of the first month in the Islamic Calender. Imam Husain was martyred on the tenth day of that month.

Om Al-Baneen: Imam Ali’s wife. He married her after Lady Zahra was martyred. Played an important role in Karbala.

Prophet Mohammad: The last prophet of Allah. Muslims do believe in Mouses and Jesus Christ, but they think Prophet Mohammad is the last messenger and the greatest person in history.

Prophet Mohammad’s pure family: Imam Ali and lady Zahra’s 12 sons and grandons. They are in order: Imam Hassan, Imam Husain, Imam Ali bin Husain, Imam Mohammad bin Ali, Imam Jaafar bin Mohammad, Imam Mousa bin Jaafar, Imam Ali bin Mousa, Imam Mohammad bin Ali, Imam Ali bin Mohammad, Imam Hasan bin Ali, and Imam Mahdi, who is still alive. They never made a sen or broke Allah’s regulations. For this reason, they were chosen to propagate Allah’s message, Islam.

Sheikh: Islamic scholar

Wahhabism: Founded by Mohammad ibn Abdul-Wahab. Wahhabis consider themselves Muslims but they are far away from Prophet Mohammad -PBUH- teachings. They reject any group that disagrees with their believes and do not give their rights to participate their faith like what they are doing in Saudi Arabia. Other religious groups’ participations are considered as a crime in Saudi Arabia.

Yazeed: The head of the government when Imam Husain was martyred. He ordered his soldiers to murder Imam Husain with his family and friends if he does not give the allegiance to him. He was licentious, drunkard person.
